Let's Celebrate Chris Anderson at HEROES CON!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Jun 23, 2022 at 09:47:02 PM

Chris is currently setting up at this weekend's HEROES CONVENTION in Charlotte, North Carolina (Table #ii1171). If you're going, be sure to drop by and say hi! If you're already a backer, he may just have a special SPECTRAL treat for you!

We're also doing something special on this end to celebrate: we've opened up a LIMITED TIME Special Commission Tier!  Between now and Sunday evening, you can select our special "Bust" Commission Tier and received a head-and-shoulders shot of your favorite character penciled and inked by Chris. And, of course, you'll also be reserving your physical and digital copies of the SPECTRAL book.

As always, please continue to spread the word, friends! We haveless than two weeks to go, and we're  currently 56% funded.

Also, for a nice deep-dive conversation on SPECTRAL, check out our interview with Kristian Horn on the Part-Time Fanboy podcast! We had a great time chatting with Kristian, and he makes some very insightful observations and makes some great questions.

Onward and upward!

Nearly at 50% PLUS NEW COMMISSION TIERS
almost 2 years ago – Fri, Jun 17, 2022 at 08:47:56 PM

Hey all of you glorious backers and future backers!

The Magical Mystery Puppet Wagon rolls on strong. We're very close to hitting the 50% funding goal before the campaign is half over. In order to get over this bumpy part of the road, I decided to offer some limited commissioned art tiers. Whatever you want on your wall, I'll make it happen in glorious black and white with screen tones. We have two sizes to choose from. 9x12 for $120 and 11x17 for 300. Remember, you can always upgrade your pledge. If you think this is something you can't live without. I'd do it now, as they are limited to 3 each.

Thanks again for getting us this far, this quickly. Please let anybody you think might enjoy our book in on it and spread the word on social media.

Best.

Chris (and David)

Before you go, we wanted to also let you know about a book that is also campaigning right now that both David and I backed personally.

  • Superstar artists Michael Allred, Stephen R. Bissette, Jae Lee, Nick Pitarra, Paul Pope, and Bill Sienkiewicz and legendary letterer Clem Robins are teaming up with rising star artist Vanessa Cardinali and debut comic book writer Chanan Beizer to create an all-new graphic novel, The Golem of Venice Beach. This 152-page epic story about the adventures of a 400-year-old Golem spans from 16th century Europe, to the horrors of World War II, to modern day Venice Beach, where the Golem has become entangled in a war between a gang and the police.
  • The Golem of Venice Beach features:
  • A wrap-around cover and a seven-page prologue by artist Bill Sienkiewicz (Moon Knight) that showcases the Golem’s creation in the year 1580.
  • A 10-page flashback sequence by Jae Lee (The Inhumans) and colorist June Chung that depicts how the Golem was resurrected during World War Two.
  • A 2-page spread and map of Venice Beach that captures everything weird and wonderful about the bohemian spirit that permeates the neighborhood by Michael Allred and colorist Laura Allred (Madman).
  • An eerie phantasmagoria by Stephen R. Bissette (Saga of the Swamp Thing).
  • A 2 page-splash page by Nick Pitarra (the creator of the highly anticipated Ax-Wielder Jon) that features every single person who is on panel in the book in one huge, cinematic crowd shot.
  • A stunning 2-page portrait, featuring the iconic Santa Monica Pier by Paul Pope (Battling Boy) and colorist Lovern Kindzierski.
  • Over 100 pages of gorgeous art by the book’s main artist, Vanessa Cardinali.

Week 2: Almost halfway there!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Jun 16, 2022 at 11:21:18 AM

Hey everyone --

Chris turned the mic over to me for our second update, and can I just say...THANK YOU!!

Seriously. From the bottom of my heart.

We had a pretty incredibly first week of the campaign. As I write this, we're a couple of days into Week Two, and we're allllmost at the halfway mark, with over $5,000, raised by all you lovely people!

The Spectral book is the crown jewel of our endeavor here, but I'm so happy seeing backers grab some of the cool extras we've offered. The one-of-a-kind "muppet" style puppets for both the Witch and the Wolf have both been scooped up, as have several of the original art pages. Wow!

That said, we've still got a steep hill to climb. We've got 21 days to raise more than $6K, so we need your help. Please spread the word of Spectral to anyone you know who might like great art and spooky stories! Posts, tweets, retweets, letters to your Halloween-loving grandmother -- it all helps us raise awareness!

Hear us talk about stuff!

As Chris and I have tried to get the word out, we've appeared on a few podcasts and YouTube shows.

I've been on a few of the Fanbase Weekly Special Edition podcasts, including this really fun look back at the first "scary" movie I ever saw: POLTERGEIST! Seems pretty relevant to our Kickstarter, so I thought I'd share a link:  Fanbase Weekly Special Edition: Poltergeist 40th Anniversary Retrospective

Chris and I also appeared on Outside The Panels, where Johnny "Machine Gun" Hughes asked us some pretty in-depth questions about the stories in this volume.

We also guested on New Dimensions Comics Presents:

...and Chris appeared on The Comic Lounge!

Some fun stuff in there. Although the writer did get his hand slapped for "talking too much" at one point.  I mean, that's what I do, right? The word-stuff?

Anyway, let us know if you have any questions, or if there's anything YOU would like to see for this Kickstarter!

Thank You!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...

...for a mind blowing first day. David and I wanted to tell you that we are truly flabbergasted by the outpouring of love for Spectral. We asked you all to show up and you did. There's still a long way to go, so we would like to ask you to tell your friends and share our posts on social media. Remember you can always upgrade your pledges as well. I'm shocked that that Devil muppet is still up for grabs. Once we get to our goal, hopefully soon, we have some great things planned for stretch goals. But we want to keep them under wraps until we see the light at the end of the tunnel. We can't wait to get this book in your hands. Thank you again from the bottom of our bloody, morbid hearts.

Chris (and David)

Before We go, I wanted to let you know about a couple more projects, funding right now, that I have had the pleasure of putting my fingers on.

G.H.O.S.T. Agents #3 is in the last 24 hours of its campaign. I drew a 6-page story in issues 1-3 and you can nab all of them now. But do it quickly!!! Time's a wastin'. This is Spy-Fi throwback, comic book goodness at it's best. It features way too many top notch artists to mention, written by the head spy himself, Rocko Jerome, and published by Cosmic Lion Press

Another fantastic and unique project going on right now is THREADY: Tuesday by Brandon Hayes and published by 100% Comics. I had the pleasure of doing the cover for issue 1, MONDAY. THREADY follows our manic-depressive recluse protagonist as he navigates the week, one day/issue at a time. Check it out!
